Watch Out, Albert: Here Come the Fans
Albert Belle has every right to run into and through Fernando Vina in breaking up a double play. That is part of the game and it is Vina’s responsibility to get out of Belle’s way. The forearm to the face, however, was totally uncalled-for and Belle’s suspension is appropriate. I would also think that the next time Belle was running from first to second on a double-play ball, he could expect the second baseman’s throw to be aimed squarely at his chest. That is how I was taught to play.

Albert Belle, you are an embarrassment to the game I love, and I hope and pray you don’t break the home run record. Cooperstown is not looking forward to the loss of one of its restrooms for your enshrinement.

Claude Lemieux must feel that Albert Belle is getting too much publicity. Perhaps if he sends a Florida Panther or two to the hospital in the Stanley Cup finals, he’ll feel his season is complete.
