The Volunteer Center of the Assistance League of Southern California is looking for volunteers to help with the Missing Children Investigation Center in Burbank. The center, founded in 1993, needs people to serve on committees dealing with fund-raising, community awareness and child safety, public relations and investigations. Caseworkers and rescue team members are also needed. Call Joan Kagan at the Volunteer Center at (818) 908-5066.
The Autry Museum of Western Heritage, in Griffith Park next to the Los Angeles Zoo, needs volunteer tour guides. The 1996-97 tour guide class begins in September. Volunteer guides learn about the museum’s artifacts and take a comprehensive Western history course. Volunteers are also needed in the Children’s Discovery Gallery, the museum store and visitor services. Call Betty Shermer at (213) 667-2000.
