Asian Cities Now the Most Expensive: The world’s five most expensive cities for foreigners are in Asia, knocking the traditionally pricey Swiss cities of Zurich and Geneva down, but not off, the top 10 list. Tokyo and Osaka kept their No. 1 and 2 places in the semiannual survey by the private Geneva-based consulting company Corporate Resources Group. Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong moved up to form the top five most costly cities for Western expatriates. The only European cities to make the top 10 were Moscow, No. 6, and Geneva and Zurich, in eighth and ninth places. The survey included housing in determining a city’s costliness, and took into account nearly 200 products, including food, alcohol, clothing, transportation, recreation and home entertainment.
