SANTA ANA — One man was killed and as many as three were wounded by gunfire in a shooting Wednesday evening, police said.
Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 2000 block of South Birch Street about 7:30 p.m. They arrived to find one man dead outside a house and several others wounded, Santa Ana Police Lt. Jose Garcia said.
A man seen fleeing the area was caught on nearby Sycamore Street with blood on his face, but it remained unclear Wednesday whether he was a suspect or a victim, Garcia said.
Homicide detectives were working to sort out what had happened and identify the victims, he said.
