Czernek Sets School Passing Mark in Newbury Park’s 48-40 Victory

Chris Czernek broke Keith Smith’s single-game school passing record by completing 26 of 45 passes for 426 yards and four touchdowns to lead Newbury Park High to a 48-40 victory over Agoura in a Marmonte League game Friday at Newbury Park.
Czernek tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Chris Garty (22 and five yards), who caught eight passes for 121 yards. Patrick Reddick caught seven passes for 98 yards, including a 33-yard scoring pass. Jake Farrel caught three passes for 99 yards, including a 62-yard touchdown pass.
Agoura (3-3, 1-2) kept it close largely on the efforts of running back Jason Gordon, who rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns in 21 carries, including a 75-yard scoring run.
Charger quarterback Ryan McCann completed 11 of 22 passes for 177 yards and one touchdown, and scored two touchdowns on runs. Shayne Sobel caught eight passes for 142 yards and one touchdown.
Newbury Park (5-1, 2-1) gained 506 yards. Agoura had 407.
