Former Turner Exec to Head Marvel: Marvel Entertainment Group Inc., as expected, named Scott Sassa, formerly head of Turner Broadcasting System Inc.’s entertainment unit, its chairman and chief executive. Sassa also was named president and chief operating officer of Andrews Group Inc., the unit of MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings Inc. that owns 81% of Marvel. Sassa’s appointment comes as New York-based Marvel battles financial problems and sluggishness in its trading card, publishing and consumer products operations.
