First I got angry at your publishing a letter which called for the boycott of travel to Croatia (“Croatia’s Past,” Oct. 13). Then I saw the light. Hey, why stop there?
Plenty of reason for a travel boycott of Germany and Austria (Nazism), Britain (destruction of indigenous cultures in the colonies), former Communist countries in Europe (totalitarian persecution), Japan (remember Pearl Harbor), Mexico (remember the Alamo), India (the caste system), and, of course, the U.S. (slavery, annihilation of Native Americans), among others.
I’d like to go on vacation, though. So if anyone knows, say, of a recently recognized island-state with a population of 2,000 that does not have an unsavory history, please notify me immediately.
