The Anti-Defamation League of Ventura County has selected Ventura County Superintendent of Schools Charles Weis to receive its annual distinguished public service award.
In a ceremony on Oct. 22, Weis was commended by the league for his efforts to promote racial tolerance in the county’s schools. He was also cited for his work with the “A World of Difference” committee, a panel discussing ways to eliminate prejudice from the nation’s public school system.
Weis, an educator for the past 23 years, was elected superintendent of Ventura County’s schools in 1994.
