Ohrel Leads Newport Harbor to Victory

NEWPORT BEACH — Ray Ohrel carried the ball 20 times for 203 yards and three touchdowns to lead Newport Harbor in a 55-8 victory over Corona del Mar at Newport Harbor High.
Ohrel, the county’s fourth-leading rusher, scored on runs of 49, 35 and one yards. The Sailors were leading, 55-0, before Corona del Mar (4-6, 1-3) scored its only touchdown on a 99-yard kickoff return by George Sumner in the final quarter.
Newport Harbor (8-1, 3-1) scored early in the first quarter when Brett Baker returned an interception 35 yards for the touchdown and a 6-0 Sailor lead.
Josiah Fredriksen gave Newport Harbor a 14-0 lead in the first when he connected with Danny Pulido on a 73-yard touchdown pass.
Ohrel ran the ball for the conversion.
Ohrel followed with the first of his two touchdown runs to give Newport Harbor a 28-0 lead and Brad La Bass had a 48-yard touchdown catch from Fredriksen.
Fredriksen finished the game completing seven of 12 passes for 192 yards with one interception and two touchdowns.
