EUREKA--The Eureka Inn has a secret. On Friday, the inn will unveil its elaborately decorated 23-foot-tall Christmas tree, the theme of which has been kept tightly under wraps. The 6 p.m. event will be accompanied by music and dancing. 518 7th St. Free. (800) 862-4906.
GRASS VALLEY--Fans of festivals and football don’t have to choose between the two at the Country Christmas Fair, Nov. 29 (10 a.m.-6 p.m.), Nov. 30 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) and Dec. 1 (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, 11228 McCourtney Road. A big-screen TV viewing area will be provided. But the main draws will be the juried arts and crafts exhibit, caroling and food. $2, Friday and Saturday; $1, Sunday; free, children under 12. SAN DIEGO--The 17th annual Dixieland Jazz Festival, Nov. 28-Dec. 1, will feature 30 bands in 10 rooms with eight dance floors. A four-day ticket is $65; three-day (Friday-Sunday), $55; Thursday or Sunday, $15; Friday or Saturday, $22. Free for children 12 and under. PETALUMA--Santa will arrive at noon Nov. 30 aboard a paddle wheeler, the Petaluma Queen, accompanied by a chorus in full song. He will then lead a horse-and-wagon procession through downtown streets. The boat docks behind the Great Petaluma Mill between B and Water streets. Free. (707) 769-0429.
