Re: Roger Newell’s letter on “Tallying Up London” (Sept. 29): Our most satisfying and one of our less expensive visits to London was a few years ago when we took our son, his wife and their three children there in midsummer.
I wrote to several schools asking them to post a letter asking if any teacher was interested in renting their house for a few weeks to us. I accepted an offer of a three-bedroom house for six weeks at $1,000. The owners were two teachers going to Australia on vacation. This arrangement was perfect.
