The Beach Cities Softball Assn. is inviting coaches, players and parents to a dinner with Olympic softball gold-medalist and San Clemente High School graduate Sue Enquist on Friday.
Enquist will discuss softball skills, what attributes NCAA coaches look for and where they find the talent.
She will also conduct a coaches’ clinic before the dinner.
The San Clemente alumnus, who coached the U.S. women’s softball team to a gold medal in Atlanta last summer, started her softball career on the San Clemente boys’ baseball team.
She later earned All-American honors and a national title in softball at UCLA, where she now coaches.
Beach Cities Softball, sponsor of the event, is an amateur recreation softball association for 5- to 18-year-old girls.
The association serves the beach communities from Laguna to San Clemente.
The coaches’ clinic will be from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Countryside Inn in San Clemente, with dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for the dinner and $15 for the clinic.
Information: (714) 361-8496.
