Capistrano Valley (8-3) vs. Los Angeles Loyola (10-1)
7:30 P.M. FRIDAY
GLENDALE HS
Third-seeded Loyola has an impressive resume, winning the Division I title in 1990, and being the runner-up in 1992 and 1995. Loyola also had an impressive first round 37-24 victory last Friday over Rialto Eisenhower. But this is a winnable game for the Cougars, which got past Long Beach Wilson, 23-17, in the first round. They will need Malaefou MacKenzie to run with the same elan he showed against Mater Dei, and for Austin Moherman to be sharp. They will need to stop the Cubs’ rushing tandem of Wesley Willard and Stephen Faulk. But those goals--and the upset--are within reach.
