British Organist to Kick Off Bach Fest

British organist David Briggs, director of music at the Gloucester Cathedral in England, will open the 1997 Los Angeles Bach Festival on Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. in First Congregational Church.
The 64th L.A. Bach Festival will continue at the Commonwealth Avenue landmark through March 9, when festival director Thomas Somerville conducts the Festival Chorus, Orchestra and soloists in Bach’s Mass in B minor.
