Sure It’s December, but It’s Always Baseball Season

Maybe it is an error in geography or mathematics, because it is hard to understand how the Angels qualify to receive $2.7 million “small-market” compensation when the neighboring Dodgers pay $3.4 million.

Hall of Fame voting is simple, Mike Downey [Dec. 11]. Vote yes on the great players and no on the good players. And when you’re on the fence, as you seem to be so often, I suggest you vote thumbs down, not up. How else can we retain the exclusivity and allure of Cooperstown?

The 30 names on the current ballot incredibly include names like Terry Kennedy, Rusty Staub and Garry Templeton with some really good players like Don Sutton, Phil Niekro and Dave Parker. But none are bona fide Hall of Famers. Take a pass on the ballot this year, Mike, and don’t ruin Cooperstown for those of us who want to preserve it for the great ones.

Mike Downey, it is entirely immaterial for whom you vote. There is no Baseball Hall of Fame. The organization now calling itself that is a complete sham and has been since they banned Pete Rose from admittance.
