Animal Food Gifts Sought at Lecture

Anyone visiting Valley College on Jan. 13 is encouraged to bring fruits, nuts, crackers and cereals--but not for a picnic lunch.
The donated food will be fed to the leopards, jaguars, bears, primates, reptiles and other creatures that live where the wild things are: the Wildlife Waystation.
The Tujunga facility’s outreach coordinator, Kathy LaForce, will deliver a lecture on “Valley Wildlife, Past and Present” during a meeting of the college’s Historical Museum Assn. The public is invited, and asked to also donate cat and dog food, wild bird seed and raw noodles.
The facility provides a permanent home for 1,100 animals and shelter, medical help and placement services for thousands more.
LaForce’s illustrated lecture is scheduled for 3 p.m. Jan. 13 in the Cafeteria Conference Room of the college, 5800 Fulton Ave. in Van Nuys. For information, call (818) 781-1200, Ext. 373 between 1 and 4 p.m.
