The first in a series of monthly boxing programs at the Warner Center Marriott, scheduled for Thursday, has been postponed.
Promoter Roy Englebrecht, who in August replaced Gerrie Coetzee as boxing promoter at the Woodland Hills hotel, said at least one fighter pulled out of the scheduled six-bout card. Moreover, boxing programs are scheduled for Beverly Hills and Hollywood the same week.
“In seven years of promoting pro boxing, I’ve never lost money on any show,” said Englebrecht, also promoter at the Irvine Marriott. “But with three shows within 24 hours. . . . I didn’t like the odds.”
Englebrecht said a decision will be made within a few weeks as to when the inaugural program will be rescheduled.
