Opportunities for Volunteering

Encino B’nai B’rith needs volunteer drivers to help distribute day-old bagels to charities, needy schoolchildren and families. The items are being donated by a local bagel company on a daily basis. In the last two weeks, more than 8,000 bagels have been donated. They are looking for licensed, insured drivers with cars. For more information, call Herman Berman at (818) 788-4230.

L.A. Family Housing Corp., a homeless support organization that runs the Valley Shelter in North Hollywood, is inviting volunteers to attend an upcoming orientation session. Volunteers serve food to shelter residents, help with arts and crafts, perform clerical duties and produce newsletters as well as other services. The Spondylitis Assn. of America, 14827 Ventura Blvd., Suite 119, Sherman Oaks, needs volunteers for a variety of tasks. Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic inflammatory arthritis that usually affects the spine and joints. At least 500,000 people in the U.S. suffer from the condition.
