A Los Angeles police officer was shot late Friday during what authorities said was an apparently routine traffic stop in Highland Park.
The officer, whose identity was not released, was transported to County-USC Medical Center, said Sgt. Zimmie Williams of the LAPD’s Northeast station. The condition of the injured officer and the extent of his injuries could not immediately be confirmed.
It was not immediately clear whether the officer returned fire, Williams said late Friday.
