The definitions attributed to hikers in L.A. Speak (by A. Grey LeCuyer, So SoCal, Nov. 24) are derogatory. The one that offended me the most was “walk & wink.” I have been a member of the Sierra Club for more than 20 years, and the club’s singles gathering is much more than a mixer. This is a group of dedicated individuals trying to protect and preserve our environment and natural resources. Sierra Club people have worked on many trails to help maintain them for everyone’s use. If you are going to write about the Sierra Club, please give us due credit.
