Re “Flooding Doesn’t Slow Plans to Build on Riverbed,” Jan. 13: Developer Jon Thomason says: “I don’t need anyone’s protection.” Of course he’s right. If Fresno gives in and lets him build in the bottom of a river in a flood area, he’ll make his millions and be long gone by the time the next flood wipes out the development. The unsuspecting homeowners who bought property assuming the city would only allow development in a safe area will be begging the state/federal government for aid. Aid that comes from the rest of us taxpayers.
Please, Fresno, stand up and say no to this unsafe development.
