Lemieux Is Hurt, Rookie Stays Hot

From Associated Press

Rookie Patrick Lalime stopped 49 shots to remain unbeaten in the NHL and help the Pittsburgh Penguins extend their unbeaten streak to 14 games by beating the Calgary Flames, 4-2, Tuesday night at Pittsburgh.

The Penguins won despite losing Mario Lemieux to back spasms in the first period. Lemieux was injured when he crashed into the net after he was tied up with Calgary defenseman Steve Chiasson.

Lemieux skated off with 5:41 left in the first period and did not return. He has sat out only one of Pittsburgh’s 46 games this season.
