In the wake of a controversial visit to Cuba last summer, Pasadena Mayor William M. Paparian will be among the speakers at a conference today at Occidental College on the future of U.S.-Cuban relations.
The conference is co-sponsored by the Southwest Voters Research Institute, Occidental’s Department of World Diplomacy and World Affairs and the local United Nations Assn.-USA. Scheduled speakers include Rep. Esteban E. Torres (D-Pico Rivera).
Paparian sparked controversy last July when he visited Cuba as a private citizen, along with his family, at the invitation of the Communist island’s government.
The conference is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1600 Campus Road, Los Angeles.
