Series in Japan to Spotlight Kariya

If the Mighty Ducks open the 1997-98 season in Japan, Paul Kariya will be a focal point.
“It will be very exciting--half because of Kariya, half because it’s the NHL and the [1998] Olympics are coming,” said Mikiko Kato, publisher of a Japanese hockey magazine.
The NHL plans to announce the Ducks and Canucks will open next season in Tokyo.
