Trial Set for Couple in Daughter’s Death

A March 10 trial date was set Monday for the Oxnard parents accused of beating to death their 2-year-old daughter.
Gabriela Hernandez, 18, and Rogelio Hernandez, 19, last month were ordered to stand trial on murder charges. They are accused of abusing and killing their daughter, Joselin, who died June 22 of blunt-force injuries to her stomach. Prosecutors allege the child was beaten to death.
Superior Court Judge Steven Hintz also scheduled a March 3 pretrial conference for the couple.
Separately, the parents also face charges of felony child abuse stemming from injuries the child suffered as an infant in 1994. That case is making its way through juvenile court as prosecutors seek to add the offenses to the murder case.
