CINCINNATI — The donations keep rolling in for a woman who was convicted of a misdemeanor for feeding change into expired parking meters.
Sylvia Stanton, 63, was convicted of obstructing official business last month for interfering with Officer Edward Johnson while he was writing parking tickets. She was fined $500.
Since then, she has received more than $1,500 from well-wishers. On Monday, radio station WHIR of Pikeville, Ky., plans to give her 4,000 quarters donated by listeners.
Stayton is appealing her conviction, and the donations will help pay for court transcripts, phone bills and postage to thank supporters, said her lawyer, David Scacchetti.
