In the Grand Slam baseball tournament:
Tustin 12, Douglas (Ariz.) 3--Elmer Roldan was three for three with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored and Alex Gaon was two for three with two RBIs and a run scored for Tustin (8-1).
In Empire League baseball:
Cypress 8, Kennedy 7--Jason Contreras (three-run homer) and Matt Gay hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning for Cypress (5-5-2, 2-1).
Katella 5, Loara 3--Matt Jara hit a two-run double in the first inning and Julio Preciado hit a two-run single in the fourth inning for Katella (9-5, 1-2).
In the Freeway League:
Buena Park 6, Sunny Hills 5--Noe Avalos singled in two runs in the top of the seventh to give Buena Park a two-run lead. Jesse Rios had three hits, including two doubles, and Richie Pohle hit his second homer of the season for the Coyotes (9-5, 4-1).
Sonora 6, Troy 2--Brent Tatum hit a grand slam in the top of seventh for seventh-ranked Sonora (9-2, 4-1).
Eric Estrada (3-0) pitched a complete game, giving up two runs on four hits. He stuck out eight.
In nonleague baseball:
Laguna Hills 4, Baldwin Park Sierra Vista 3--Cory Pardoe walked with the bases loaded to score Kevin McCaffrey with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning for Laguna Hills (5-5-1).
Orange Lutheran 6, Lancaster Paraclete 5--Orange Lutheran scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Tim Smith led off with a double, Mike Mattivi singled and Rob Haney singled Smith in for Orange Lutheran (5-7).
Lancers’ Nick Odenath homered in the first, his second of the season.
In the Canyon girls’ softball tournament:
Bolsa Grande 5, Ocean View 1--Mary Petrie pitched her second complete game of the day as Bolsa Grande (9-5) advanced through the second round. Petrie (8-4) pitched a one-hitter in the Matadors’ 3-0 victory over Rowland in the first round.
El Dorado 6, Santiago 2 (9)--El Dorado scored four runs in the top of the ninth to defeat Santiago in the second-round game. The Golden Hawks (4-7) won their opening-round game, 12-1, over Santa Ana Valley in five innings.
Troy 5, Canyon 1--Canyon (10-6-1) committed four errors in the first inning and was upset by Troy in the opening-round game.
