Free Tour Offered This Morning of Restored Warner Grand Theater
- Share via
History buffs can get a walking tour today of the Warner Grand Theater in San Pedro, which has been spiffed up since the city bought the 1930s movie house in 1995 for $1.2 million. The Los Angeles Historic Theater Foundation is offering a free peek at the movie house, 478 W. 6th St., from 10 a.m. to noon.
Art Deco chandeliers hang from the rafters and the original tapestries cover two walls. On the ceiling is an elaborate copper, gold and silver sunburst design. The theater held its first entertainment event last Christmas. An Italian film festival is set for later this month.
Since the theater reopened last year, the city has added two new projectors and a stereo sound system.
