Orange Coast Dominates Regatta

NEWPORT BEACH — Orange Coast took first in two races and also won the overall title Sunday at the 32nd annual Newport Rowing Regatta on the North Lido Channel.
Orange Coast took the lead at about the 1,200-meter mark in the varsity eight competition and went on to win the 2,000-meter race in 5 minutes 52.55 seconds. UC San Diego (5:53.69) was second and UC Davis (5:56.04) third.
In the varsity four competition: Orange Coast trailed early but took the lead at the 500-meter mark and cruised to victory in 6:45.64. San Diego (6:46.40) was second and Long Beach State (6:50.70) third.
Orange Coast finished with 20 points to take the P.A. Palmer Cup by a point over UC Davis. UC Irvine (12 points) was third.
