Wilderness Hike for Disabled Planned

“Wheel to the Sea,” a free wilderness hike designed for disabled people who use wheelchairs, will be held Saturday through Sycamore Canyon in Point Mugu State Park.
The event enables people with disabilities to use their wheelchairs on the trail and through streams en route to the ocean. At the hike’s conclusion, specially designed beach wheelchairs will be available to allow some of the participants to get their feet wet.
A barbecue will be held at Sycamore Cove State Beach at the end of the hike.
The nonprofit Wilderness Institute has organized the hike twice a year for the past 13 years.
Buses will take participants at 9 a.m. from the Rancho Sierra Vista parking area in Newbury Park to the trail head at Danielson Ranch in Newbury Park.
