The waxing gibbous moon is 5 degrees west of Mars this evening, and both are in Leo the Lion. They are high in the south as darkness falls, and they set in the west at 3 a.m. Mars is more than three times as bright as Regulus, the star to the right of the moon, but during the summer Mars will fade until it is the same brightness as Regulus.
