15-Year-Old Boy Drowns in Pool

A teen-age boy drowned in a backyard swimming pool Thursday, authorities said.
Paramedics responded to a drowning call about 5:30 p.m. at a residence in the 17300 block of Westbury Drive, said Jim Wells, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department. The victim--identified only as a 15-year-old boy--was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
The circumstances were not immediately known, Wells said. The incident was being investigated by detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire station, authorities said.
