El Dorado Clinches Empire League Title

El Dorado clinched the Empire League title outright with a 4-1 victory over Kennedy Friday at Kennedy.

Jerry Miller’s two-run homer capped a three-run first inning for the fourth-ranked Golden Hawks (22-4, 12-3). The loss dropped Kennedy (14-12, 7-8) into a tie for third with Loara.

In the Academy League:

Capistrano Valley Christian 3, Liberty Christian 0--Dustin Smith went two for three and drove in all three runs for Capistrano Valley Christian (10-11, 7-3).

In the Express League:

Heritage Christian 23, Huntington Beach Claremont 5 (5, mercy)--The Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 batters for Heritage Christian (16-4, 9-0) were 16 for 16 at the plate.

In the Orange League:

Valencia 6, Savanna 4--Valencia scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning and defeated Savanna at Brookhurst Park. The victory clinched second place for the Tigers.

Brea Olinda 10, Anaheim 9 (10)--Luke Karaelias went two for three with two RBIs and two runs in Brea Olinda’s 10-inning victory over Anaheim at Brea Olinda. Jason Julius (3-2) struck out eight in five innings of relief for the Wildcats (11-16, 9-6).

Magnolia 9, Western 0--Greg Young (9-0) fired a three-hitter and was three for three for eighth-ranked Magnolia. Brian Morris contributed two hits, including a two-run homer, for the first-place Sentinels (20-2-1, 13-2).
