Arizona receiver Calvin Shexnayder caught six passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Rattlers to a 58-26 victory over the Piranhas in an Arena Football League game Friday night in Phoenix.
It was the third consecutive loss for the Piranhas, who have started a different quarterback each of the last four games.
“We’ve just got a lot of work to do,” Coach Mike Hohensee said. “Luckily it’s a long season.”
The Rattlers took a 14-6 lead after the opening quarter, but the Piranhas made it 21-13 on a 12-yard touchdown run by James Johnson.
Shexnayder then answered about a minute later when he caught his second touchdown pass from Sherdrick Bonner, which covered 10 yards. Anthony Brenner then gave Arizona an 18-point cushion with a 21-yard field goal just before halftime.
Ian Howfield had two field goals in the third quarter for the Piranhas.
Piranhas quarterback Ron Lopez, who started the season but was benched in favor of rookie Mark Grieb last week, completed 13 of 29 pass for 123 yards and a touchdown.
