Bergeson to Speak at Coastline Graduation

Marian Bergeson, state secretary of Child Development and Education, and Orange County Supervisor Charles V. Smith will address graduates at Coastline Community College’s commencement today at the Neighborhood Community Center in Costa Mesa.
The Fountain Valley-based college, which has education centers throughout the county, will award 198 associate in arts degrees and 210 certificates of achievement at its 21st graduation.
Before joining Gov. Pete Wilson’s cabinet in 1996, keynote speaker Bergeson served as a state senator, an assemblywoman and an Orange County supervisor.
Smith will receive an honorary associate in arts degree for his support of educational programs. He is a member of the Coastline Community College Foundation Board of Directors.
Today’s ceremony begins at 2 p.m. in the Neighborhood Community Center, 1845 Park Ave.
