Reputed No. 2 Boss of Mafia Arrested

After weeks of staking out a farmhouse in a seaside town east of Palermo, police stormed the building and arrested the man said to be the Sicilian Mafia’s No. 2 boss. Investigators said Pietro Aglieri, known as “the Little Gentleman” for his elegant dress and refined manners, was presiding over a summit conference with other alleged Mafia bosses when the raid occurred. Aglieri offered no resistance when police entered the farmhouse near the town of Bagheria and also took into custody two other men reputed to be his associates.
