Camarillo seniors Joe Borchard and Andy Kroneberger have been named Marmonte League
baseball players of the year and Royal senior Matt Rainer has been named pitcher of the year.
Borchard, a center fielder and pitcher, batted .417 with 17 runs batted in and five home runs in league play. He was 6-0 with a 2.14 earned-run average. Kroneberger batted .469 with 11 RBIs.
Rainer, a right-hander, allowed 40 hits in 45 league innings and was 6-1 with a 2.96 ERA. He pitched five complete games, struck out 40 batters and walked 20.
Reseda High senior third baseman Alfredo Saenz was selected the Mid-Valley League player of the year.
Saenz led the region with a .654 batting average, and had 13 doubles, five triples, eight home runs and 53 runs batted in.
Royal High setter John Baxter was named boys’ volleyball player of the year in the Marmonte League.
Boys’ volleyball player Stephen Merrill of Santa Clarita Christian High was selected most valuable player in the Westside League.
The Highland Hall High softball team received the Sportsmanship award of the Westside League.
