Slain Officer

Last Monday the sun set with the laying to rest of a colleague, a brother, a friend. Last Monday the sun set on the life of Officer Charles Lazzaretto (“2,000 Pay Tribute to Officer,” June 3).
He was taken from us all doing what we all set out to do: Make the world a safer and better place for everyone.
There are no words to ease the pain or arrest the flow of tears brought by this tragedy. And no sentiments can fully express the grief felt throughout the community. In this time of sadness, we can only offer our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy for his families, both at home and on the job.
With heavy hearts we commend his commitment and honor his sacrifice.
