PREP BASEBALL / SOUTHERN SECTION CHAMPIONSHIPS : Esperanza Pounds Millikan for Division I Title

Right fielder John McCollum doubled in two runs to highlight a six-run fourth inning to lead Anaheim Esperanza High to an 11-3 victory over Long Beach Millikan in the Division I championship Saturday front of 8,179 at Anaheim Stadium.
Esperanza (25-5) sent nine batters to the plate and produced six hits off Millikan junior pitcher Randy Tymchak (10-3) in the decisive fourth inning.
Esperanza pitcher Nathan Choate (13-0) gave up three runs and eight hits in four innings. He entered the game with an earned run average of 1.73, with 54 strikeouts in 64 innings. Millikan (24-7) stranded six runners in six innings.
Jesus Oregel had three hits, including a double, and scored four runs and Tom Nicholson and Brandon Pack each had two RBIs to lead an 11-hit attack for Esperanza.
