Democrat Attorney to Run for Assembly

Veteran attorney Hannah-Beth Jackson has announced that she will run for the California Assembly representing the 35th District next year.
The 47-year-old Democrat plans to officially announce her candidacy at 2 p.m. today on the steps of Ventura City Hall, 501 Poli St.
Jackson, a family lawyer in Ventura and Santa Barbara, hopes to fill the position being vacated by Assemblyman Brooks Firestone. Firestone (R-Los Olivos) has indicated that he will forgo reelection to run for lieutenant governor.
Jackson, a self-described advocate for women’s rights and crime victims, has been a district resident for the past 20 years. In addition to her private practice with the firm Eskin and Jackson, she served two years as a deputy district attorney in Santa Barbara County.
