Vigilantes Fall to Grays Harbor

The Vigilantes’ free fall continued Sunday with a 6-2 loss to Grays Harbor in a Western Baseball League game in front of an announced crowd of 939 in Hoquiam, Wash.

It was the fourth consecutive loss for the Vigilantes (11-17), who lost four in a row and five of six on the trip that ended Sunday.

Since starting the season by winning five of seven on the first homestand, the Vigilantes have gone 6-15, including winning only four of 15 road games.

Grays Harbor (16-12), the second-place team in the Northern Division, scored three times in the fifth inning to take a 5-1 lead.

All three runs came home on Mike Rendina’s league-leading 11th home run of the season.

Corey Parker had two hits, including a seventh-inning double that drove in Alan Burke, who had singled with one out. But the rally died when Lonny Stare struck out and Sean Drinkwater grounded out.

Sam Taylor had a sacrifice fly in the first inning to drive in Mike Moutrey, who opened the game with a double for the Vigilantes.

Scott Singleton gave up four hits, five runs--four of which were earned--and walked six in four-plus innings to take the loss. Singleton, who started the season by winning his first two starts, has since lost four in a row.
