In Julie Cart’s story on women’s boxing [June 24], she stated that the first bout between women in California was a decade ago. Wrong.
The first female boxing bout in this state was 21 years ago, April 28, 1976, under my promotion at the Forum. Kim Maybee and Pat Pineda were the participants in a four-round bout. Kim won by a TKO.
