Times Names Lynne T. Jewell Director of Public Affairs

The Los Angeles Times has promoted Lynne T. Jewell to the post of director of public affairs, responsible for public outreach for the newspaper’s Los Angeles, Valley and Ventura County editions.
Jewell, who had been public affairs manager, will oversee expanded community outreach and public affairs programs such as “Meet the Editors” forums, and Times sponsorships and contributions. Her promotion was announced by Marilyn Lee, vice president for public affairs.
Jewell joined The Times in 1994 from the Los Angeles Daily News, where she had been director of public relations for 10 years. Prior to that, she held managerial positions at the University of Southern California’s News Service and at Berkhemer & Klein Inc., a Los Angeles public relations firm.
Previously, she was a reporter with the Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville.
She is currently president of the International Newspaper Marketing Assn. Western Region and serves on the boards of the USC Journalism Alumni Assn. and the Valley Industry and Commerce Assn.
