Sorgi Wins Diving Title

Erica Sorgi of Mission Viejo won the world championship in the age 14-15 platform diving event Tuesday at the Junior Olympic World Championships in Penang, Malaysia.

Sorgi, 15, who dives for the Nadadores, scored 276.81 points, beating second-place Anna McIlwaine of Australia, who had 268.77 points.

Sorgi also will compete in the one- and three-meter springboard events this week and the one- and three-meter events at the World Aquatics Championships, a senior-level event, Jan. 8-18 in Perth, Australia.
