A free party to celebrate achievements in the Ventura Avenue neighborhood will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Ventura Avenue Adult Center and Green Plaza.
Make a Difference Day, sponsored by the Westside Community Council, will include an awards ceremony, storytelling, mask making, face painting, folk dance, an arts and crafts display, music, and an exhibit of advances made by the community in recent years.
The Westside Community Council, a volunteer group dedicated to improving the quality of life in the Ventura Avenue area, was formed in May 1994. It holds regular meetings, sets goals, and works through private and civic channels to better the community.
