Cypress Gets Past Golden West in Soccer

Vedda Desatoff and Sheri Smith each scored two goals as Cypress defeated Golden West, 7-0, in an Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer match Friday at Cypress.
Lori Harris had two assists for Cypress. The Chargers, the fourth-ranked team in the state, is 13-1-2, 5-0-1.
In another conference game:
Fullerton 2, Riverside 0--Kristen Rowe scored both goals for Fullerton (9-5, 3-3). Michele Brauer had five saves for her fourth shutout.
In nonconference women’s soccer:
Orange Coast 2, Cal Lutheran JV 0--Andrea Taylor and Abbie Erickson each scored for host Orange Coast (11-2-3).
In Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball:
Saddleback 3, Fullerton 0--Andrea Iliescu had 10 kills for Saddleback (7-1, 3-1) in its victory.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:
Santa Ana 10, Irvine Valley 1--Santa Ana’s (4-11, 4-2) Nick Purdom had three goals.
In the Cypress-Long Beach City men’s water polo tournament:
Saddleback 3, San Diego Mesa 2--Shaun Souza, Todd Valentine and Chris Carnahan each scored for Saddleback.
In nonconference men’s water polo:
Cerritos 17, Santa Ana 8--Don Warrick scored seven goals, including three in the third quarter, to lead Cerritos (10-11). The Falcons outscored Santa Ana, 5-0, in the third quarter to break open a 5-4 game. Ryan Carroll and Maer Cruz each scored three goals for Santa Ana (4-16).
In nonconference women’s water polo:
Fullerton 7, Citrus 4--Jill Schmidt scored two goals in Fullerton’s (12-7) victory over Citrus.
