* Update--The Angels have never gone a season without winning at least one game in Detroit, but they are in danger of getting swept in Tiger Stadium in 1997. They lost twice here in May and have lost the first three games of this four-game series. The injury-plagued Angels have struggled in virtually every phase of the game for the last three weeks, and if they are to have any chance of reaching the playoffs, they must turn things around immediately. That means Dickson, the rookie right-hander who has given up 11 earned runs on 15 hits in 7 2/3 innings of his last two starts, both losses, needs to step up with a quality start today. The Tiger bullpen, a weakness for most of the season, has given up only three runs and 11 hits in 26 1/3 innings of the last 10 games for a 1.03 earned-run average.
