A woman suspected of killing her 5-day-old son and disposing of the body in a trash bin will be arraigned in the next two days, police said Monday.
Elizabeth Faber, 24, of Hollywood was arrested in Santa Monica about 5 p.m. Saturday, said Sgt. Glen Hees of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood division.
A janitor at the Hollywood YMCA found the baby three hours earlier, wrapped in plastic in a trash bin outside the facility in the 1500 block of Schrader Boulevard, Hees said.
Hees said officers pursued 13 fruitless leads Saturday afternoon before hearing the tip that led to Faber’s arrest.
Sgt. Gary Gallinot of the Santa Monica Police Department said a Santa Monica officer saw Faber outside the Santa Monica Place mall after seeing her picture on a flier distributed by the LAPD.
The officer detained Faber at the intersection of Broadway and 3rd Street and called the LAPD, Gallinot said.
