DANA POINT — Two people on a powerboat bound from Dana Point to Avalon were rescued by the Coast Guard on Wednesday when they became stranded by a fuel problem.
The Coast Guard got a call from the 32-foot Dolphin about 4 p.m., Coast Guard Petty Officer John Howk said. The people, whose names were not available, had no navigational equipment, were disoriented by rough seas and didn’t know where they were, Howk said.
About 5:45 p.m., a Coast Guard helicopter from San Diego found them about 20 miles south of Avalon, Howk said. A surface vessel then arrived and towed them to Avalon.
The occupants were seasick but otherwise unhurt, he said.
