Oilers Sweep Tritons in Girls’ Volleyball

The Huntington Beach girls’ volleyball team defeated visiting San Clemente in a season-opening nonleague match Thursday.
Lori Dadelow had 12 kills and Denee Ezerins had 11 to lead the Oilers in their 15-5, 15-9, 15-7 victory.
In another nonleague volleyball match:
Woodbridge 3, Los Alamitos 1--Outside hitter Erin Denniston had 12 kills for Woodbridge (1-0), which won 7-15, 15-10, 16-14, 17-15.
In nonleague girls’ cross-country:
Santa Margarita 29, Brea Olinda 36, Buena Park 65--Heather Garritson finished first for Buena Park (0-2) in 18:58. Dani Rope (19:25) and Lori Man (20:22) took second and third to lead host Santa Margarita (2-0).
In nonleague boys’ water polo:
Laguna Beach 9, Corona del Mar 5--Spencer Dornin’s play at the two-meter position dominated the game. The 6-foot-5 senior scored six goals for the Artists (1-0).
